FAQ

Can't I just have my employees clean up the blood etc?

Employees or general public can only clean up blood, bodily fluids, biohazard or infectious waste if they have been formally trained in blood pathogens. If they have the relevant risk and method statements, have the correct personal protective equipment available. Have had hepatitis vaccine with follow up visit. Legally dispose of bio hazardous waste. Only after these steps are met can an employee clean a biohazard scene

What are Blood Borne Pathogens?

Blood Borne Pathogens means pathogenic micro-organisms that are present in human blood and can cause SERIOUS disease in humans. They are potentially very infectious and one is putting themselves at risk of exposure at any blood and body fluid contact, this may result in HIV, HBV or HCV.

What is Hepatitis B and why is it so dangerous?

Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis B Virus. HBV infected blood is highly concentrated with the virus much more so than HIV(AIDS). This means that any exposure incident concerning blood or bodily fluids infected with Hep B V will be exceedingly likely to cause infection.

Why is Crime Scene/Trauma cleaning dangerous?

Crime/Trauma scenes often contain large amounts of human body fluids. These materials present a biohazard as they can be infectious diseases. Individuals who clean crime scene must protect themselves from these biohazards while performing their job to ensure health and safety.

Why do Inter cleanse do this?

Its simple 'Compassion in Crisis' Each families personal tragedy is overwhelming to them. We do not lose sight of this and are empathetic to their needs, both emotionally and financially. We are trained and proficient in infectious waste handling and decontamination procedures that are effective against dangerous pathogenic diseases.

How much do you charge?

Due to the nature of our business all scenes are handled on an individual basis and we will be happy to come out and give you a quotation.

Why do you need to have the site cleaned by professionals?

Intercleanse strongly believes that any scene has to be truly clean, not just apparently clean. If not , infection can result from blood borne pathogens, any body fluids that remains in floors, carpets, walls, or floorboards. It can also lead to mould, bacteria and fungus which can cause sickness months or even years later. We use top quality disinfectants with the best 'Log Kill' available to wipe and scrub every drop of blood of all surfaces, including floors, ceilings, walls, fixtures and fittings.

What is considered as hazardous waste?

Hazardous material is defined as any chemical or biological substance that could cause an adverse health effect.

Is regular household disinfectant sufficient for killing pathogens or viruses?

NO! Household disinfectants are not approved to kill certain pathogens or viruses. You will need an approved disinfectant that has a high 'LOG KILL' rating and certified. This is the only disinfectant that can be used when full disinfection is important.

Handling bio hazardous waste?

When a violent death occurs in someone's home, the family typically doesn't move out of the home. Intercleanse removes any sign or consequence that results from an incident. Regulations deem all bodily fluids to be biohazards so any blood or tissue at a scene is considered a potential source of infection. One requires special knowledge to safely handle bio hazardous material and to know what to look for at a scene. For instance if there's a thumb-nail size bloodstain on the carpet, there's a good chance there is a 2 foot diameter bloodstain on the floorboards underneath it. You cant just clean the carpet and call it a day. You also need licenses to transport and dispose of bio hazardous waste. Intercleanse has all the necessary permits, training and perhaps most important willingness to handle waste that would send most people running out the door.

 What is Hoarding cleaning?

Large piles of rubbish may not seem like much of a hazard to you but its what is living in the rubbish you need to be aware of. Gross filth of rubbish and debris from a hoarding site typically involves cleaning a building or residence that a normal person would find uninhabitable due to a combination of filth and debris from hoarding, human faeces matter, animal faeces matter, rodent faeces, bodily fluids, excessive trash, expired food, odours, boxed items, mould, mildew etc.

Can this be taken care of discreetly?

We will act in the most discreet and professional manner possible. Information pertaining to your situation will not be shared with anyone who is either not involved with service to you or not legally required. We respect your privacy.

What is a Trauma scene?
